To get the time and cost estimates for importing data from your custom format into Tally, you must provide the following :


1) Source data : (Excel sheet with some real data)
2) Destination data : (Tally data having the same entries as given in Excel)

SOURCE data : Guidelines for creating the Excel sheet 

  • The Excel sheet must have few records (say 2 to 5).
  • Highlight the required columns in YELLOW which are to be imported into Tally.
  • For each required column, specify remarks in the Excel sheet itself :
    • Is the column-value mandatory or not ?
    • the data-type viz text, date or number;
    • the Tally field / column-name
  • Specify other conditional requirements (if any)
  • Specify the Excel version that you are using.

To provide more clarity, two pictorial examples are given underneath; one with incomplete details and other with complete details.

Example 1:

DESTINATION data : Guidelines for creating Tally data

  • Create a new Company in Tally.
  • Enable the features in Tally Company as required (viz VAT, Cost Centre etc).
  • Manually enter the data into Tally based on your Excel sheet .
  • Ensure that the figures in Tally match the XLS data, so that we can identify and relate the XLS and Tally data.
  • Provide the Tally user-name and pwd (if any)
  • Mention the Tally version that you are using.

After you provide the above details (Excel and Tally data), we shall intimate the cost and time estimates.
