What is Port 9000 ?
You may wonder, what is Port Number. Well, just as you give your mobile number to others so that they can contact you, similarly to programmatically communicate with Tally, a Port Number (memory area) is required.
The default Port is 9000 which can be changed either using the option “Gateway of Tally > F12 > Advanced Configuration” or you can set it directly in the Tally.ini file using ServerPort=9000 option (for older Tally versions).
Communicating with Tally
By default, the udi-Magic / other external tools, use the the default Tally Port 9000 to communicate with Tally Software. In case, if you have set / changed the Port Number (i.e. different than 9000) in Tally using the steps as given above, you must change the Port Number in the udi-Magic / external application also.
In udi-Magic, you can change the Tally Port Number using the "Settings" button (in the second screen).
