This error generally appears when the Excel file that you are trying to upload into Tally does not contain reference to the Mapping / XML file (See Notes).

Solution

Step 1 - In the udi-Magic Software, click the Browse button and select the 'Excel file' which you want to upload into Tally.

Step 2 - Next, tick/check the option 'Use separate file for XML tags' and select the relevant XML tags file.

Step 3 - Next, click the Start button to upload data into Tally.

Notes

udi-Magic software comes with a number of pre-designed Excel formats for uploading data into Tally ERP. These formats are available in the 'c:\udi-magic' folder. In addition, a mapping file is provided for each Excel format. The mapping file has the same name as that of the Excel file.

In brief, a standard template comprises of 2 files.

Example:

Excel file : Master-LedgerMaster.xls

Mapping file : Master-LedgerMaster-xml-tags.xml

Now, try out this :

>> Double-click and open any Standard Excel template file say 'Master-LedgerMaster.xls'.

>> Next, right-click in the cell A1 and select option 'Edit Comments'.

You can see that the Mapping / XML file-name is specified in the comments section of cell A1.

Using Standard template

When you upload data into Tally using a Standard template, the mapping / xml file gets automatically selected, and you do NOT have to select it explicitly.

Using your Excel file

When you upload data into Tally using your Excel file (which does not contain reference to the XML file in Cell A1), you have to select the XML file manually.
